About Us:

St. Vincent’s Hospital, Fairview works in partnership with the Health Service Executive and the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, to provide psychiatric care to the population of Dublin North Central.


The hospital is managed by a Board of Governors, under the chairmanship of the Archbishop of Dublin. The day to day running of the hospital is the responsibility of the Chief Executive and the Management Team.

Education & Training

Education

The hospital has important educational links with the medical schools of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and University College, Dublin and the nursing school in Dublin City University .

Training

Additionally, the hospital provides training posts for doctors preparing for Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists as well as providing training and supervision of clinical psychologists. There is also an active programme of research.

The hospital library specialises in the provision of information on mental health nursing and psychiatry

an extensive collection of books, official publications and theses; journal and audio-visual collection, and access to a number of medical and nursing databases.

Research:

In St Vincent's Hospital nursing research is undertaken in collaboration with University College, Dublin and Dublin City University. Current areas of nursing research include nursing models, nursing assessment methods, detoxification and patient satisfaction
